Back to School at Macy's with Shawn D

Shawn D and Macy's together again for a great cause. Together we welcomed back all the students with open arms for the new school year as well as raised money for the March of Dimes with the Shop For A Cause campaign. Shoppers purchased a Shopper's Pass for all day savings at Macy's. All proceeds were donated to the March of Dimes. Bloomington Macy's at College Mall was top in the district for Shopping Pass sales and had an incredible amount of proceeds donated to the March of Dimes. What a great feeling to not only celebrate the Back to School season but also to give back to a very worthy cause. Thanks to everyone that came out in support of our event and a special Thank You to David and the entire staff of Macy's and the March of Dimes. Everyone went above and beyond their duty at this event and it was an absolute success. Job well done.

Back to School with a Splash.... and Shawn D

Once again, Shawn D teams up with Head Start of Monroe County. We welcomed back the students with a splash!!!! Along with an old fashioned cookout, great music, and splashing great fun, Head Start also gave away books to all the kids. We even shot a video of the kids and Shawn D doing a parody Oprah's "You get a car! You get a car! You get a car!" bit from her famous Oprah Winfrey Show. Oprah Winfrey, if you are looking.... Amazing Music and Shawn D's B.U.G. Club Gives Back Again This Year

Shawn D and Amazing Music prides itself in our philanthropic ventures and our efforts to help our community. Since the new school year is upon us, we gathered a bunch of school supplies and made a donation to Head Start courtesy of Amazing Music's B.U.G. Club (The Bring Up your Grades Club). The B.U.G. Club was established over 15 years ago as a way to help kids stay motivated to keep their grades up, stay in school, listen to their parents and stay away from drugs and alcohol. Kids kindergarten through 8th grade can send us a signed copy of their report card with grades no lower than "C's" or "Passing" and become an official member of our B.U.G. Club. As an official member of the B.U.G. Club, the student can send us their report card every grading period. As a way of saying "Job Well Done!!" in turn Amazing Music will send the student a prize for their hard work. It could be a CD, coloring books, school supplies, etc... whatever we have in our prize closet. We feel that education is the key to success and we want the next generation of kids and all generations of kids that follow to get a great education and be successful in life. Congratulations Megan and Justin!!!!

What a great event!!! We had the privilege of being a part of an amazing day. Megan and Justin are two great people that have an incredibly blessed life ahead of them. Not only are they great people, but their families and friends are really great too. Guests were dancing from the moment they entered the room until the last call. A Successful Second Annual Event

Once again we came together for the 2nd Annual bike ride for the Nicole Safe Heaven Foundation. It was truly a great success for the second time around. I saw many familiar faces and made some new friends. I look forward to next year's event . Thanks to EVERYONE involved in this event. What An Amazing Day in St. Louis

First Eating Lunch at the Famous Sweetie Pie's Restaurant....

Then Spending a Great Evening With Grammy Winning Artist Macy Gray

Who would have though that our day spent in St Louis would have been so star studded and amazing!!! I had  to do a gig in Illinois this past Thursday. My wife and I decided that we would take a detour before my next set of gigs and head to the STL. When we got there, we decided to have lunch at the famous Sweetie Pie's Restaurant from Oprah's OWN Channel. Miss Robbie, the Owner and Operator of the restaurant is a former Ikette when Ike Turner was big. What a great afternoon at Sweetie Pie's. The food was plentiful and the taste was out of this world. FYI... when you go to St. Louis... stop at Sweetie Pie's. Make sure to bring your appetite because you definitely get your money's worth!!! Boy is my stomach full!!! After lunch, we decided that we needed to walk it off, so we headed to The Loop and enjoyed shopping on Delmar Street. We met some famous people along the way including Maya Angelou, Josephine Baker and Vincent Price... Here are the pictures...

Now... just when you think that the day couldn't get any better.... we make our way to Laclede's Landing and visit the Lumiere Casino to try our luck. Although we were not lucky on the slots... we were lucky in other ways. I ran into some friendly people that asked me if I would like to see Macy Gray perform that night in the casino theater. I said yes.. that would be fun... and they gave me 2 free tickets to see Macy Gray. I grabbed my wife and we went to the concert. We had a great time and Macy was a true entertainer!!! She really got the crowd pumped up not only with her music... but with her sense of humor and personality.  Not only was Macy incredible, but the band was amazing. It was a pleasant treat to watch a performance given by someone else instead of being the performer.  A big shout out to the new friends we made that night and thanks again for the tickets to the concert. It will definitely be a night that we will never forget. We are definitely die hard Macy Gray fans.  The ironic thing about the concert that night was that just the day before, my wife was watching Kim Kimble on the reality show L.A. Hair. It just happened to be the episode where Kim Kimble was putting together wigs for a photo shoot that Macy Gray had. How funny is it that my wife was watching that particular episode and then the next day we see Macy Gray in person!!!  Karma and Luck have a funny way of showing up when you least expect them to. Finally... we ended our day with a trip to the Arch. It is amazing in the daytime... but it is spectacular at night...

Another Year... Another Graduating Class Congratulations Class of 2014!!

Here we are again. Another great graduation dance!!! There was a great bunch of kids moving on to high school and we celebrated their accomplishments with a killer graduation dance!!! Thanks to all the Chaperones and school staff for making this night possible and allowing me to be a part of this exciting event!! A big shout out goes to the graduating class of 2014!!! Had the best day today!!! I got to spend the Memorial Day holiday with a great family that I have known for many years. It was great to reconnect with old friends and even made some new friends. A BIG " Thanks!" goes out to Tammy for bringing everyone together. Hope to see everyone again next year.
